About the Synthetic Boxing Gloves

A synthetic boxing glove is the sensible entry point into the sport. The Everstar synthetic uses a durable PU outer over layered foam padding, giving you the same protective structure as a leather glove at a price that makes sense when you are six weeks into your first boxing class and still working out whether this is for you.

This is also the glove that clubs, schools and gyms buy in bulk. When you need fifteen pairs across a range of weights for a junior programme, synthetic is the only option that fits the budget — and for the amount of use any single pair in a shared kit bag gets, it holds up perfectly well.

Weights from 6oz to 16oz

This range starts lighter than the leather line, which makes it the better choice for junior boxers.

  • 6oz — Junior and youth boxers, roughly ages 8–12. The smallest hand opening in the range.
  • 8oz — Older juniors and lighter competition weight.
  • 10oz — Speed and pad work for adults; competition weight in lighter divisions.
  • 12oz — The best all-round starting weight for most adults.
  • 14oz — Heavier bag work and light sparring.
  • 16oz — Sparring standard for adults.

If you are buying a first pair for general fitness boxing and bag work, 12oz is the weight most people should start with. If you know you will be sparring within a few months, go straight to 16oz and save yourself buying twice.

Who this glove suits

Beginners in their first year of training, fitness boxers who work the bag two or three times a week, junior programmes, school clubs, and anyone equipping a home garage setup will all get what they need from this glove.

If you are competing, sparring several times a week, or you have already worn through a synthetic pair, step up to the premium genuine leather gloves — the extra durability pays for itself at that volume.

Making them last

Synthetic gloves fail at the seams and the flex crease across the knuckles, and both failures are accelerated by moisture. Air them out after every session, never store them sealed in a bag, and keep them out of direct sun.

Always wear hand wraps underneath. Wraps take the sweat that would otherwise break down the inner lining, and they give your wrist the support the glove alone cannot.

Common questions

What size boxing gloves should a child use?

Junior boxers aged roughly 8 to 12 usually take 6oz or 8oz. Confirm with your child's coach first, as some junior programmes set their own required weight for group training and sparring.

Are synthetic boxing gloves good enough for beginners?

Yes. For your first year of training, bag work and general fitness boxing, a synthetic glove does everything you need at a much lower price. Move to leather when you start training more than twice a week or begin regular sparring.

Do you supply boxing gloves in bulk to gyms and schools?

Yes. We supply boxing gyms, school programmes and clubs across South Africa with mixed-weight bulk orders. WhatsApp 083 563 2999 for wholesale pricing.

How long will a pair of synthetic gloves last?

With two to three sessions a week, hand wraps worn underneath and proper airing after training, expect around a year. Skipping wraps or storing them damp in a closed bag will cut that down sharply.
