The Club ball is the practical choice for the majority of a cricket season — net sessions, school cricket, junior fixtures and training. Available in all three regulation weights: 113g, 135g and 156g.
The full weight range is what makes this ball useful to schools and clubs. One ball type covers your junior programme, your women's team and your senior side, which simplifies ordering considerably.
Which weight for which player
- 113g (4oz) — Junior and youth cricket, roughly up to under-13 depending on your league. Light enough for developing players to grip and bowl properly.
- 135g (4.75oz) — Women's senior cricket and older junior grades, typically under-13 to under-16.
- 156g (5.5oz) — Men's senior regulation weight.
Check your league's specific requirement, as age-group weight rules vary between provincial unions and school systems in South Africa. If in doubt, ask the coach before buying for a whole team.
Practice balls vs match balls
A net session puts far more wear on a ball than a match does — more deliveries, more contact with nets, walls and hard ground.
That is why serious clubs separate the two. Use Club balls for training and keep Crest or Select match balls sealed for fixtures. A club running this way gets far more usable seam-life out of its budget than one that uses everything for everything.
Buying for a school or club
Budget for a full season rather than buying reactively. Practice balls are consumables and running out mid-season means either playing with dead balls or paying rush prices.
A useful rule of thumb: one practice ball per player per season for a junior programme, more for senior squads doing heavy net volume. We supply schools, clubs and coaching programmes across South Africa — WhatsApp 083 563 2999 for bulk pricing across mixed weights.
