The difference between kickboxing shorts and boxing shorts comes down to one thing: the side split. Kickboxing shorts are cut shorter with a deeper vent up each side, so a head kick or a high round kick meets no fabric resistance at the top of its arc.
If you have ever thrown a high kick in ordinary shorts and felt the hem pull against your thigh mid-motion, you already know why this cut exists. Made in lightweight breathable polyester with a wide elasticated waistband, sized S to XL.
Who needs this cut
Anyone who kicks. Kickboxers, Muay Thai practitioners, MMA fighters and karate athletes doing continuous sparring all benefit from the deeper split.
It is also the sensible default if your gym runs mixed classes. Kickboxing shorts are perfectly acceptable for boxing training, but boxing shorts genuinely restrict high kicks — so if you are buying one pair to cover everything, buy this one.
Fit
The waistband should sit at or just above the navel and stay put through a full round without needing adjustment. The leg should hang clear of your thigh with no tension when you raise your knee to your chest.
Test them properly before you commit: stand up, bring one knee as high as it will go, then throw a slow round kick. If you feel the fabric anywhere in that range of motion, size up.
Care
Cold wash inside out, hang dry, no tumble dryer. Heat perishes the waistband elastic and dulls the fabric finish.
Pay attention to the stitching at the top of each side split — that is the highest-stress point on the garment and where wear shows first. Complete your kit with groin protection and shin guards for sparring.
